GAME DEVELOPMENT

As an Applied Digital Arts major at Kutztown University, we select a field to focus in. My field is Game Development, and here are some of the games I have made and worked on as part of my degree.

ANOMALY

2D Horror/Action Side-scroller

Anomaly is an individual project I worked on for my Game Development 1 class, using Unity. We were required to create a 2D side-scroller game that fit into the horror genre, and used a monochromatic color palette. The game only was required to be one level long but had to utilize several components including collision detection, a scrolling background, and some form of basic AI. With this criteria, I created Anomaly. You play as a character known as the "Spacewalker" and you explore an abandoned space colony looking for survivors, while being stalked by a creature known as the "Anomaly". I used C# to program the game, and Adobe Photoshop to design the art assets. Feel free to download the Unity build below and try the game out.

Redd: A Tale of Shadows

3D Action/Platformer

Redd: A Tale of Shadows is the game I created as my senior capstone project at Kutztown University. The game follows a brave, young adventurer named Redd, as he attempts to navigate his way out of the ruins of an ancient civilization. Along the way he will encounter several obstacles, including mysterious Shadow Creatures that will try an stop him. Redd does not back down from the challenge though. He is determined to find his way and eventually, save the world from these evil creatures. I worked on this game as a solo endeavor, and as a result, had to take on many roles to make sure it was done in time for the senior showcase. This included creating 3D models, texturing assets, designing the levels, figuring out what audio to use, writing a basic story, and programming the whole thing. I worked on the game over a period of 3 months and it is certainly my most ambitious project to date. I plan on continuing work on this game in the future, with the end goal of having it be a fully-realized game, rather than a short demo. Feel free to download the build below and try out the game.

SHADOW LAND

2D Horror/Action Side-scroller

Shadow Land is a game I worked on as part of a team project in my Game Development 1 class. For this project, we were required to take the concept of the our individual projects(see "Anomaly" above), and implement the work into a team based environment. For our game we came up with "Shadow Land", a 2D horror side-scroller game with a monochromatic color palette. You play as a boy named Will who had his body stolen by the Shadow King, and now he is stuck living as a shadow. You must venture the Shadow Lands to find the king and defeat him in order to reclaim your body. This project was my first experience working in a team to design a game. Before, everything I had done had been an individual project. Working in a team was a great experience, and helped me to develop better communication skills and time management. For this game I worked as an artist designing characters and environment assets. I also worked as a writer for the games story. Feel free to download the demo below and try the game out.

ROLLIN

3D Platformer

Rollin is a 3D game I made using Unity, for a project in my Intro to Game Development class. It is based off a roll-a-ball template my professor gave us. It is a very basic game where you play as a ball, and you move around the stage collecting various items. I used C# to program the game. Feel free to download the Unity build file below and try the game.
